Obama Administration: Time Needed to Overturn "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
A few weeks ago Press Secretary Robert Gibbs gave a surprising un-political answer when asked if the administration would repeal the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. Gibbs answered, "Yes".
The Obama administration now is signaling that the repeal of DADT won't be immediate and perhaps not even in this year. Obama is hoping to canvass more military and congressional leaders to get them comfortable on the issue before moving forward.
According to The Boston Globe: "They (Administration officials) said Obama, who pledged during the campaign to overturn the law, does not want to ask lawmakers to do so until the military has completed a comprehensive assessment of the impact that such a move would have on military discipline. Then, the president hopes to be able to make a case to members of both parties that overturning the 1993 law would be in the best interest of national security.
Obama is hoping to avoid the missteps of the Clinton administration when it tried to open the ranks to gays and lesbians, only to be confronted by fierce resistance from lawmakers and commanders. Early in his presidency, Bill Clinton signed an order allowing gays to serve but was forced to back off. A compromise made it illegal for gays to serve openly, but also restricted investigations into service members' sexual behavior."
Aubrey Sarvis - Executive Director of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Fund - seemed comfortable with Obama's approach. She said, "The Clinton experience makes a lot of folks [in the administration] apprehensive."
There seems to be a growing campaign among DADT supporters to keep Obama from repealing the outdated policy despite military leaders such as Colin Powell publicly coming out in support of repealing it.
And since we are on the topic of the military's DADT policy, I thought you'd all enjoy these videos.
And, finally this gem. Which really begs the question if allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly would really hurt troop morale. Methinks not.

OMG Jealous: Jake Gyllenhaal & Heath Ledger Lookin' Like A Couple
There are few things that I crave more in this world than Jake Gyllenhaal - perhaps fame and fortune but that's even too close to call. So when I got these pictures from pal Rick Chris (thanks man!) I was blissful.
I immediately felt sad because poor Heath Ledger is no longer alive but these pictures look like Jake and Heath are on a date. Don't they look amazingly happy? If in fact Jake's heart has a big gaping hole in it from Heath I'd certainly be willing to help fill it. Being the caring, giving back type of person I am... of course.

The Courage Campaign's latest PSA: Fidelity
The Courage Campaign has released a new video encouraging supporters to ask California's Supreme Court not to divorce the 16,000 couples wed in that state.
And in the beautiful lyrics of Regina Spektor, this video certainly does "break my heart." Quite touching.
And don't just watch the video and think you are finished.
Watch. Take Action. Tell your story. Do it, now.

Topless Tuesdays featuring Didier Cohen
This week's model was chosen immediately based upon his tattoos. As I was doing my usual "homework" to prepare for this week's Topless Tuesdays I was struck by Didier's amazing tattoos. Didier stands at 6'3" and weighs a measly 12.4 stone. He's represented by Wilhemina Models.
OMG Rihanna's Face
Rihanna and Chris Brown either have a really twisted publicist or Chris Brown lost his freakin' mind. Can you believe what he - allegedly - did to Rihanna's face?
And if you have seen these images flying around the internet I just want to let you know that they are actually fake. The picture was totally photoshopped.
Happy Friday the 13th!
Topless Tuesdays featuring WENDELL LISSIMORE
.jpg)
Wendell Lissimore may have a funny name but he's one of the fastest rising Black models in the industry. He was recently featured in a Gucci campaign that ran in the fall/winter Russian GQ Style among several new projects in 2008. This 6'1" model is represented by RedNYC.
Wendell was born in Utah and like most models currently resides in New York. For you stoners out there you may appreciate that he was born on April 20, 1985. For only being 23 he has a very mature look, imho.

Paid Sick Days: What In The World Is Going On?
I really can't believe the hysteria that seems to be sweeping the Milwaukee region. That hysteria being the rush for suburban municipalities to pass ordinances making it nearly impossible to pass a Paid Sick Day referendum similar to what Milwaukee voters did in November.
So far Menomonee Falls, Germantown and Kewaskum have passed these anti-sick day ordinances. Many more municipalities are taking steps to join these backward thinking communities - including Brookfield, West Bend and Muskego.
In November Milwaukee voters passed a Paid Sick Day referendum with 69% of voters supporting it. Of course businesses have been fighting the ruling - led by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (MMAC) - to keep the referendum from taking hold. A court will be ruling on the legal challenge in the next few weeks.
What I don't understand is why these communities are so happy to strip away benefits from their workers. Giving an employee time off work when they are sick makes sense - for basic public health reasons to begin with.
It's like they want to scream to the world: Business move to us we'll help you screw over our workforce!
I hope the voters in these communities work to take out each and every one of the elected officials that voted to deny workers paid sick days. When they get sick at their jobs you better believe they will be getting paid.

Kenneth The Page's Response to Gov. Jindal
On Tuesday President Barack Obama addressed a joint session of Congress. It was an amazing speech that spoke frankly and honestly about the state of our great nation. In his speech, President Obama outlined this three major legislative goals. They are healthcare reform, education, and alternative "green' energy.
It was a great speech and I managed to only cry a few times. I think by his third year I'll be immune to tears when listening to him speak.
Anyways, the exorcism performing Louisiana Governor - Bobby Jindal - was selected to give the Republican response to President Obama's speech. It was terrible - makes me wish Sarah Palin was still around. Immediately everyone started making comparison's between Gov. Jindal and 30 Rock's Kenneth the Page.
Last night Kenneth the Page joined Jimmy Fallon on his new Late Night Show to give his response. Check it out below:
