Missing Milwaukee: Day 1

It's probably not quite fair to title this post Missing Milwaukee (since I'm still here) but as this is my last week in Milwaukee before I move to New York I've started to get quasi-sentimental.

So in an attempt to honor all that I have come to love - and perhaps loathe - about Milwaukee I will highlight something I will miss once I'm out of the Midwest.

One of the things I will truly miss - as it is one of my only regular habits - is Alterra. I've been getting my morning Americano from Alterra for several years. Many mornings I'd pair it with a delicious Cranberry Pumpkin muffin.

The staff at the Alterra on Humboldt are exactly what you want in a local favorite. Friendly, accommodating, and they remember your order (if you get the same thing every day like me).

As most of them know I am moving (I have been using all of my many, many free drink cards) - I was touched - if maybe a bit cheesy - that they all wished me well and said they'd miss me every morning.

Ok, maybe that's really really cheesy but in a week that's surely going to be tough it was exactly what I needed.

I will miss you too Alterra - staff, coffee, sandwiches and all...

10 things you should know about Obama's budget

I received this from MoveOn and thought it was important enough to post. It's exactly from MoveOn's email.

The plan:
1. Makes a $634 billion down payment on fixing health care that will go a long way toward paying for a more efficient, more affordable health care system that covers every single American.

2. Reduces taxes for 95% of working Americans. And if your family makes less than $250,000, your taxes won't go up one dime.

3. Invests more than $100 billion in clean energy technology, creating millions of green jobs that can never be outsourced.

4. Brings our troops home from Iraq on a firm timetable, finally bringing the war to a close—and freeing up almost ten billion dollars a month for domestic priorities.

5. Reverses growing income inequality. The plan lets the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans expire and focuses on strengthening the middle class.

6. Closes multi-billion-dollar tax loopholes for big oil companies.

7. Increases grants to help families pay for college — the largest increase ever.

8. Halves the deficit by 2013. President Obama inherited a legacy of huge deficits and an economy in shambles, but his plan brings the deficit under control as soon as the economy begins to recover.

9. Dramatically increases funding for the SEC and the CFTC — the agencies that police Wall Street.

10. Tells it straight. For years, budgets have used accounting tricks to hide the real costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Bush tax cuts, and too many other programs. Obama's budget gets rid of the smokescreens and lays out what America's priorities are, what they cost, and how we're going to pay for them.

And, it looks like Republicans are realizing they may not be able to block President Obama's budget. Finally things are looking up for this country.

Missing Milwaukee: Day 2

if you've lived in Milwaukee for more than a few years you quickly realize that the best time to live in Milwaukee is summer. Winter sucks in Milwaukee. It's cold, ugly, cold, snowy, and nothing is happening. But, summer. Oh, summer is amazing.

I'm going to miss driving along Lincoln Memorial Drive by the lakefront on sunny days listening to Beyonce. Or biking down to Bradford Beach and having a margarita (or 4) at the new snack stand. Or drooling over the cute lifeguards with 6 amazing friends.

Milwaukee is best missed during the winter months. During summer it's best to be enjoying Milwaukee.

Topless Tuesdays: Allu Arjun

Last night I ate at a lovely Indian restaurant in Curry Lane and decided it was only fitting to feature a spicy model from India. Meet Allu Arjun.

Allu is an Indian actor and lives in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh with his family. He has several relatives that have also made a life as actors. HIs second film, Arya, which was released in 2004 was his break through film that helped put him on the map. He has also starred in Daddy, Bunny, Desamuduru and Happy.

Jason Segel dishes on Paul Rudd

In this week's Time Out New York (TONY) there's an interview with actor Jason Segel. The jewel of the interview comes when he talks about his dreamy I Love You, Man costar, Paul Rudd.

Asked if he ever got lost in Paul Rudd's eyes during filming he recounts a story from shooting.

So one time I was fast asleep (he had been doing 20-hour days on two projects at the time) on the couch, and I just feel Paul and his gentle touch on my shoulder going, "Hey Jase, wake up. It's time to wake up, buddy. Wake Up." And I slowly open my eyes, and Paul is standing there with his dick out. And he just gives me this weird, mischievous smile and walked out of the room.

And for you clueless folks scratching your heads about who this Paul Rudd character is. Well first, shame on you. And second, here's something to jog your memory. An oldie but a goodie.

Topless Tuesdays: Erik Bunten

Our featured hottie today comes from one of the hottest places in the US - Florida. Jacksonville, to be exact. Erik Bunten is represented by Evolution Management. He's a young model at 23 years old. He stands at 6' and wears a commanding size 12 shoe. Despite being a model he's not nearly a slave to fashion he says "most days I'm ragged out going commando in a pair of jeans, t-shirt, and flops." Oh, I can only imagine...

Portia de Rossi Apologizes for Marriage to Ellen

Portia de Rossi was on Jimmy Kimmel Live this weekend to talk about her new show "Better Off Ted" and being a teenage model. She also released a brand new PSA about gay marriage.

A Rod's Homo Shoot

New York Yankees slugger Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez continued his PR tour with a cover interview for the April issue of Details. I frankly could care less about what he says since I'm more interested in his homo photo shoot.

The pictures are HOT! Especially the picture of A-Rod kissing himself!

But, there's a little gem in the interview which should give everyone a little giggle. He calls up Jason Gay - who interviewed him - the following day to clarify something he had mentioned the night before.

"Listen," Rodriguez says. "I was thinking about one thing that I spoke about—it's something that's kind of trivial but will give me a hard time for no reason." He pauses. "The song."

He was worried that he would get a hard time at away games if people found out what his favorite Madonna song is. Hilarious! Seriously dude, you are in the middle of a illegal substance scandal and you are worried that the opposing team will blast Justify My Love to embarrass you?

But, I do wonder what his favorite song is. La Isla Bonita? Borderline? What It Feels Like For a Girl?

Topless Tuesdays with David Gandy

Chances are not many of you will have already known the name of today's featured TT model. BUT, you should immediately recall him from the Dolce & Gabbana "Light Blue" campaign.

I've been a fan of David Gandy ever since I saw him lying on that little white raft! He was recently ranked in the Top 5 of Male Models. David was born in 1980 in Billericay, Essex. He got his start in modeling when his friends entered his photo into a modeling contest and he won. His first major breakthrough was the "Light Blue" campaign with Dolce & Gabbana. He is currently represented by DNA models. And those looking to size themselves up next to David - he's 6'2", wears a 10.5 shoe, and buys 40R suits.

On the question of if he'll take up the offer to start acting: "I have been approached by some really great people to do acting. However, I really don't want to be one of those horrid model/actors," he says.

Topless Tuesdays: Christian Kent Hunter

This week's centerfold hottie is 25 year old Christian Kent Hunter. He's got quite an interesting story - for those of you that appreciate a narrative with your abs.

Christian is a science teacher that won a scholarship in 2007 to study in Chile. He eventually decided to leave Chicago and move to Santiago. While there he was a participant on the Chilean tv show, Yingo - a show that pits models against ordinary folks for prize money. He was an immediate favorite and become known as "El gringo de Yingo."

He is now modeling in Chile. In addition to his brains and modeling career he loves boxing. Let's hope that El gringo doesn't mess up that pretty face too much.

This Week

Sorry for the lack of postings in the last few weeks. Now that I'm finally getting settled in New York I think I'll be able to get back on a regular posting schedule. I've got plenty to post about including my adventures in Florida this weekend with my cousin and the tribe of seagulls that tried killing us.

Keep checking back this week for more updates!
