Man attacks painting at Milwaukee Art Museum
A 21 year-old Pewaukee man will likely want to declare bankruptcy after he gets the bill for the damage he caused to a painting at the Milwaukee Art Museum on Thursday. The man began kicking Ottavio Vannini's 1620 painting The Triumph of David because the image disturbed him.
The painting is valued at $300,000 and was on loan from the Haukohl Family Collection. It's unknown whether the painting will be able to be restored. The attacker was disturbed by the severed head of the giant and kicked a hole in the bottom right corner before he was surrounded by security guards and museum staff.
After he finished kicking the painting he took off his shirt and laid on the ground where he remained calmly until the police arrived. He faces felony damage to property which may mean up to 3 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
