One Step Forward In Washington
Washington Governor signs Domestic Partnership Law
Governor Chris Gregoire signs Washington's Domestic Partnership Bill into law this past Saturday. Legislators were moved by Charlene Strong's powerful story about the death of her partner in the flooding in Seattle last year. The bill passed the Senate 28 to 19 and the House 63 to 35. Not too surprising votes largely mirrored party lines.
The law takes effect July 22, 2007 at which time expect none other than advice columnist/author Dan Savaget to get himself "DP'd".

Thanks for sharing this information Kurt! It is so sad that in Wisconsin we had to take ten steps back. However, I am very heppy for the folks in Washington state.
