The site is funded by their advertisers: Macy’s, Fujitsu, Timelife, Apple, Office Depot, Readers Digest, and many others. The site launched in October 2007 and reportedly donated 537,163,380 grains of rice. They have now donated 12,513,079,830 grains of rice.
