* The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts has created an HIV prevention toolkit that aims to educate young women worldwide about the disease. At their international launch in Boksburg, South Africa CEO Mary McPhail stated, "We wanted to develop teaching methods which would get the message to young women that they are at risk. We wanted to get across that they can also be responsible for empowering their own lives and making their own decisions."

Now, if only the Boy Scouts could get over their gay bashing to do something as equally impressive. Rock on Girl Scouts! Rock on...

The Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center has launched a new webisode of their online soap opera - In The Moment - which hopes to bring attention to the HIV epidemic and its ravishing affects on gay and bisexual men.

“We’re grateful the City of West Hollywood has funded this initiative, through our WeHoLife.org program, to promote healthy living among those who live, work and visit West Hollywood,” said Susan Cohen, director of the Center’s Health Education and Prevention Department. “Of course, we know it also has the potential to stimulate safer sex discussions among anyone with a computer and we will be monitoring web traffic, with the hope that we can secure funding for the remaining 11 webisodes.”

The first episode was engaging and I am hopeful that this new initiative will spark a new movement to become vocal and active in the fight against AIDS. If you haven't been following the news young gay and bisexual men - particularly those men of color - are seeing a dramatic increase in HIV infections.

MARC JACOBS' BOYTOY ROCKS DEAD MOUSE BROOCH: Jason Preston - who is Marc' new on-again, off-again boy toy - took to the streets of NYC wearing a hideous dead mouse brooch. Apparently it was a gift from Courtney Love. Nuf said....

HIV RATES ON THE RISE FOR GAY NYC MEN: A recent study has shown an very alarming trend in HIV rates for young gay and bisexual men in NYC. The reports shows that "over the past six years, the total number of new HIV diagnoses among gay men under 30 has risen 33%." The report shows that gay/bisexual men over 30 showed a decrease in HIV rates by 22.2%. The greatest burden continues to be on young Black and Hispanic men who continue to test at higher rates for HIV.

AMERICAN EAGLE SUPPORTING HOMOPHOBIC ADS?: A new ad campaign by American Eagle, It's a Mall World, has caught the ire of many LGBT activists. The ads - which can be seen on the AE website and shown during MTV's The Real World: Sydney - feature a "stereotypical gay man" in a recent episode. Check out the video and decide for yourself. Some say it's shameful and others say it is no different than Perez Hilton or William Sledd (who both got shows for their apparent gay personalities).

The Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) - based out of Chicago - is in need of a few good men to fill the position of Mr. Sex. I'm not sure how much they are willing to pay Mr. Sex but they only need his services part-time. Sorry to those interested men looking for full-time gigs.

Mr. Sex is needed to work bathhouse outreach and they put it in a job description - and that is truly the position title. (Seriously, I can't make this stuff up!)
